Afrikaans rock 'n roll is not dead! Van Coke Kartel walked away with two awards at this year's Ghoema awards. They were voted as Best Group and also received the award for Best Rock Album for Bloed, Sweet & Trane. They where up against Bloemfontein natives, Oros in ‘n Lang Glas, with Thula as well as Christian rockers , One Crown, for best rock album. They also beat favorites like Romanz and 4werke for group of the year.
Fellow Bellville boys, Die Heuwels Fantasties won the award for best DVD production for their Live by Paul Cluver DVD. Karel Hoffman also received an award for his pioneering work with OppiKoppi and Anton Goosen was honored with a lifetime achievement award.
