Great news for music lovers in Cape Town! The popular Liefde by die Dam concert that is held annually at Emmarentia Dam in Johannesburg, will now also be presented in the Western Cape, at Meerendal, on Saturday November 17th. Liefde by die Dam, named after Valiant Swart's famous hit song with the same name, strives to serve as a platform to showcase the best local music. The program features music for young and old, which makes it an ideal day out with your family or ‘besties’.

Eight top South African artists and bands will be performing in the lovely picnic-style setting. The MC will be the popular Afrikaans comedian Schalk Bezuidenhout.

Pierre Greeff (Die Heuwels Fantasties), one of the organisers of the event, says: “We have been working towards also bringing this concert to Cape Town and we are very happy that this is now possible. Bring your friends and family and join us for a day of great music, food and good vibes at Meerendal – with the beautiful winelands and mountains as backdrop.”

Wimpie van der Sandt, CEO Bok Radio, says that it was an easy decision for them to be on board. “For the past three years, we have systematically adapted our music format to keep up with the changes in the music industry. There has recently been a clear shift and old favourites like Valiant Swart and Koos Kombuis are popular among our listeners. Francois van Coke, Die Heuwels Fantasties and Sunset Sweatshop are all former Western Cape Bokkie Awards winners. We are looking forward to a fantastic day at Meerendal with great names in the South African music industry.”

A concert with a phenomenal line up that also aims to pay some love forward. The Johannesburg Liefde by die Dam event teamed up with Liefde Wen https://liefdewen.co.za/ to collect blankets for the less privileged after the concert. They received approximately 800 blankets at this year`s event. The same initiative will also be coordinated at Liefde by die Dam Meerendal. Bring your own picnic blanket and leave it behind after the concert. The Liefde Wen team will make sure that the blankets find new homes where needed.”

For your day out at the dam there will be a delicious range of South Africa’s best artisan food traders. You can also bring your own picnic baskets.
