“Everything about Taxi Violence has grown tenfold in the ten years of our existence.”
Once upon a time there were two high school rival bands: 508, to which Rian Zietsman, Louis Nel andTaxi Violence’s ex-bassist, Loedi van Reenen, belonged. George van der Spuy was the drummer for the other band, Drain.
In September 2004, they put their differences aside – no one could figure out which band spat on which band . George finally accepted Rian’s invitation to jam with them in a storage room at Wynberg Military Base in Cape Town. Taxi Violence was born.
10 years: The rise of Taxi Violence. The band carves out a place for their sticky brand of rock ‘n roll, known as ‘music for the waist down’. They are celebrated for their fierce independence, epitome-of-rock-‘n-roll sound, fiery live shows and integrity. Jason Ling joins Taxi Violence in 2008 as their new bassist.
Taxi Violence’s fifth album, Tenfold, will be released on the 6th of September. The band believes that it is their best album to date. Stoked to still be spreading the rock ‘n roll gospel after 10 years, the band celebrates by releasing their first single, Beaten by the Gun, as a free single.
Tenfold will be launched on all the digital platforms and the band will be promoting the album with shows across South Africa during September and October. CDs will be sold at shows and online fromwww.taxiviolence.com and music@taxiviolence.com, for any product orders.
Pre-orders are open for the limited edition pressing of Tenfold on vinyl and can be ordered at music@taxiviolence.com. These babies go for R280.
