Steyn Entertainment has concluded the purchase of top South African music festival properties Rocking the Daisies and In The City. The company had been looking for a strategic entry into the music industry and recognised the incredible value that these two festivals hold as well-established and highly successful event properties.
The strategic support that Steyn Entertainment will bring to both these events will ensure their long-term growth in an increasingly cluttered festival landscape.
“Our plan is to enhance the offering of SA’s top two music and lifestyle events to invite the world to our beautiful country,” says George Avakian of Steyn Entertainment. “Our vision is to take them to the next level in terms of production value, line-up and technical design, cementing their place on the international festival circuit.”
Festival founding members, Brian Little and Craig Bright, will still be very involved in their implementation. Steyn Entertainment will work closely with Little and Bright – and a carefully chosen group of existing suppliers from around the country – to make sure both festivals retain their essence and unique offering.
“This is the perfect collaboration,” comments Little, “we’re all after a common goal, which is to create globally aspirational events. With Steyn’s resources and our know-how, we’ve found the winning formula and as these are the only two events that Craig and I will be focusing our attention on, our fans can expect great things.
We’re really looking forward to seeing our joint vision through to fruition.”
Taking place in October every year, Rocking the Daisies sees over 20,000 festival-goers head to Darling in the Western Cape for three days of sun-filled fun.
Jo’burg’s In the City takes place at Emmarentia Dam on the Sunday of the same weekend and welcomes up to 10,000 attendees. The international line-up plays across both festivals over the weekend, while being supported by dozens of top local bands, artists and DJ’s.
