Can you feel it?! Work is starting to feel like a bore and you simply can’t study for that test that’s around the corner, because the Daisies festive spirit has caught up with you, good, hard and solid. And we don’t blame you, because we are in exactly the same fantastic predicament. One lady who will also join Rocking The Daisies this year, is Alice Phoebe Lou. Although originally from Kommetjie, Alice has been a traveller of the world since age 19 and is now based in Berlin. If you haven’t heard of her yet, we’ve got you covered. Don’t miss her set on Saturday 3 October 2015 at 11:05 on the Main Stage.
Will this be your first ever RTD – attending or playing?
To be honest, my only Daisies experience was when I was 15 years old! I obviously had a great time and my best memory was running through a field and hearing 340ml start to play.
What is the best compliment you have ever received about your music?
In Palestine, a man told me that listening to me play was the first time in two years he hadn’t felt stressed or worried. That was the ultimate compliment for me, as I feel that music as a form of therapy or catharsis can be so important.
What can RTD festival goers expect from your performance?
At the moment I am based in Berlin, so this will be my biggest performance in South Africa to date! My multi-talented music partner, Matteo, will also be flying down especially for the weekend.
Do you have any weird or interesting backstage pre-performing rituals that you can share with us?
I just do a dance. ‘Cause dancing takes away all the nervous feelings and gets your heart pumping.
Which South African act are you most excited to see perform live at RTD and why?
Thor Rixon, because he never ceases to surprise. And Felix Laband of course!
Which international act are you most excited to see perform live at RTD and why?
That one’s easy. I’ve been a big fan of The Cat Empire for a long time. It’s going to be incredible to see them live!
How do you intend to rock your daisy at the festival?
I like to take things easy and watch as many great shows as possible and wake up in the mornings feeling fresh and ready for the day.
Do you have any camping tips/advice for first-time campers this year?
Have a good land mark for your tent!
