Cape Town rockers Red Huxley have decided to call it quits after 7 years of making music. They rose to fame with their crowdfunding mission to record their album in the USA with Eagles of Death Metal member, Dave Catching. This produced a well received album. After the departure of bassist, Matthew Pullen, the band was joined by Joel Bronner. Together Bronner, Dylan Jones (vocals/guitar) ad Murray Stephenson (drums) released another EP, Needle's Eye.
They leave fans with this message:
Hey everyone,
After a lot of thought we have decided that it is time to call it a day for Red Huxley.
It has been an amazing few years and we are lucky to have experienced being apart of the music industry in South Africa. It has taught us so much and shaped us into what we are today. Our highlights have got to be filming our 'My Own Way' video with Motion City Films, recording in Rancho De La Luna with Dave Catching, and playing twice at both Oppikoppi Festival andUp the Creek Music Festival. A massive shout out to the guys from Jägermeister, Charl and Mike! You guys are a massive support and we are eternally grateful. Thank you guys. We love you.
We recently recorded what will now become a parting gift. 'Only your Heart' was recorded at Popsicle Studios with Raiven Hansmann and we are really stoked and proud to release this song, so thanks to all involved.
We would lastly like to say a massive thank you to everyone that has supported us along the way; fans, family, festivals, venues, sponsors, record labels and all the other amazing bands we have played with. It has been an honour and it has been real.
We are playing a farewell show at Beerhouse on the 29th of October and we hope to party with everyone one last time before we call it a day. Details will follow shortly and we hope to see you all there.
Peace
