KAREN ZOID LIVE: IN AID OF STIKLAND HOSPITAL
This February, South African rock legend, KAREN ZOID will be performing at Bellville High School, Cape Town in aid of Stikland Mental Hospital. KAREN ZOID has become such an important part of the home grown scene that her name is now the byword for emotionally charged, downright incendiary South African rock music. What's more, throughout a career spanning more than 10 years, Zoid has managed that unusual and frequently tricky feat of balancing popular appeal with critical praise; of securing an audience of both Afrikaans and English speakers; of retaining her individuality in a market known for its desire for sameness. Her unmistakable voice, razor sharp lyrics and passionate performances make her a one of a kind performer. Zoid's super-charged rock energy and an ability to write gorgeous, delicately rendered songs that speak of the emotional vortex is what drives this exceptional artist to keep creating. Karen Zoid is South Africa's premier female rock artist, full stop. Zoid currently hosts her own hit talk show ‘Republiek van Zoid Afrika’ on KykNET, and also appears on 'The Voice South Africa' alongside fellow coaches Kahn Morbee (The Parlotones), Bobby van Jaarsveld & Lira. All profits of Zoid’s performance at Bellville High School will go towards the Stikland Mental Hospital and used purely to better the service for patients and to ensure that more people can be treated at the hospital. “Karen is so popular and her music is loved by all. She has played a huge role in the South African music scene and is active in social awareness. So naturally we chose her to be the performer for the fundraiser and we are privileged to have her as a part of the event.” says Johann Vos, Chairman of Stikland Hospital Facility Board. Fans can look forward to the best of Karen Zoid in Bellville. There will be food and drink stalls at the event, as well as safe and secure parking at Bellville High School.
