FOKOFPOLISIEKAR HITS R700 000 : CPT GETS A FREE SHOW

Fokofpolisiekar called and the crowd answered

In March FOKOFPOLISIEKAR exceeded their Thundafund crowdfunding dream target of R500 000 within 9 days to fund the making of their first full length album in 11 years.

This did not stop their fans from pledging for more merchandise items from the band’s Thundafund page. To show their appreciation, Die Bende promised a free show in Cape Town should they reach the R700 000 mark.

This promise was made to encourage more of their fans to pre-order the new album, as only 450 albums were pre-ordered by 31st March. To this date 725 have been pre-ordered.

The R700 000 target was reached on 20th April, with 30 days of the crowdfunding campaign to spare.

Fokofpolisiekar is happy to announce a free show at Mercury Live in Cape Town on Thursday, 25th May. The doors will open at 7pm and will work on a first-come first-served basis as the venue’s capacity does not allow for more than 400 people. The performance will start at 9pm.

Gauteng could be next…

Gauteng could also get a free show, should the band manage to raise R800 000.

There are plenty more cool things to pledge for on the band’s crowdfunding page, including goodies like Fokofpolisiekar watches, Brand Suid-Afrika and Antibiotika vinyl combos, merchandise bundles, a Fokof Lager light box and Johnny de Ridder’s American Mustang Fender (1978) guitar to the value of R25 000.

Meanwhile, the band is hard at work in studio to make one of most anticipated albums of 2017…

Fokofpolisiekar convenes on average 3 times a week to craft the album of 10 songs. Follow them on Facebook for regular live webcasts and be a fly on the wall of their writing process. These webcasts tend to include plenty of headbanging, air-guitaring and other antics.

At this stage, the album is scheduled for release on 3 October 2017. Those that pre-ordered a digital copy of the album will receive it in September already!
