Red Hot Events, together with Jägermeister, are very happy to announce that Fokofpolisiekar will be joining the incredible line up for Up the Creek 2018. Two legendary South African bands are now confirmed as the headliners for the weekend: The magnificent Mango Groove will make you dance under special stars on the Friday night and Fokofpolisiekar will blow the sky`s top right off on the Saturday.
Francois van Coke from Fokofpolisiekar says: “We played at Up the Creek in 2004. We were still a young band back then. I loved it and can`t wait to be back after 14 years to see what the festival has been up to. I have only heard good things!”
The news also just gets better: Fox Comet (making a once-off return to the stage), Albert Frost, Opposite The Other, Lucy Kruger, The Steezies, and Bad Peter have also been added to the already impressive list of bands and artists for the weekend. The line up so far include:
Mango Groove, Fokofpolisiekar, Spoegwolf, MT Seas, Aidan Martin, Sunset Sweatshop, Mobbing Bali, West Coast Wolves, Sublime Tribute Project, Jackal & The Wind, Native Young, Southern Wild, Jerry & The Bandits, Sol Gems, Boulevard Blues, We Are Charlie, Veranda Panda, The Kiffness, Jak Skandi, Bongeziwe Mabandla, Crimson House, Nomadic Orchestra, Fox Comet, Albert Frost, Opposite The Other, Lucy Kruger, The Steezies, and Bad Peter. Final acts to be announced early in January.
Since the summer of 1990 Up The Creek festival has been hosted at Up The Creek River Camp, set between a dirt road and the welcoming waters of the Breede River. With various stages, including the unique Savanna River Stage at the water`s edge, you are guaranteed to be entertained throughout the weekend.
Also at the Sedgwicks’ Old Brown Food Court this year: Nikki Jackman and her travelling Soul Circus. They’re a nomadic festival within their own right, and a ‘voluntouring’ retreat for artists, activators and all people who care. Creekers, you can look forward to their performing skits, plays, talks, eco-bricking workshops and more. http://soulcircus.org/
Jeffrey the Jam Van will be on standby to entertain you before the Jägermeister Main Stage kicks off and the Sedgwicks’ Old Brown Food Court stage will be running in the mornings and afternoons to showcase new and upcoming artists.
Savanna Premium Cider is coming back to the festival in a big way, supporting live comedy; fresh local acts; draught cider on tap at the main bar; DJs on their Late Night Stage; fantastic giveaways throughout the weekend, and more. Rumour has it they’re even hosting a Savanna style brunch on the Sunday morning.
While the festival is one of the few remaining that still allows you to camp next to your car (should you choose) there is also a greener campsite where no cars are allowed or you can book pre-pitched tented accommodation at www.heartbreakmotel.co.za
In true Up The Creek tradition (the festival originally started out as a birthday celebration) we believe in celebrating every milestone.
